ABOUT SKIBYK
Founders, Chris Schuler and Alfie Fernandez bring their unique experiences from varied backgrounds to the SkiByk philosophy. As a long-time winter sports enthusiast, Chris Schuler has a keen understanding of snow sports equipment developed over the years. Skiing since he was 12 and snowboarding since 1984, Chris has ridden through the changes that both industries have seen. Starting his winter career as an 18 year old fresh out of Hawaii he moved to the snow areas of Washington State. He worked his way up to management, eventually opened the first snowboarding rental shop in 1987. Working closely with the ski area, snowboard shops and manufacturers, Chris helped to develop the Northwest Snowboarding Series, which produced many of the world’s top snowboarding riders through the ‘90’s. As an active 'hardbooter' snowboarder Chris was focused on boards that could truly carve. In 2009 Chris was introduced to a 'skibob' in Colorado. This experience led him to purchase his first Geary ski bike in 2010. Over the next five winters Chris rode his Geary, making changes to the bike that would help in future SkiByk designs. In 2016, Chris was introduced to a new design of ski bike and his eventual business partner Alfie Fernandez. Riding bicycles, dirt bikes and driving cars has been a passion for Alfie Fernandez since he was a kid. He has ridden everything with wheels from BMX to mountain bikes. When Alfie is not out SkiByking in the winter or mountain biking in the summer you will find him in his garage working on his cars and bikes.
His passion for all things that go downhill, and working on cool stuff made his venture into ski bikes a natural opportunity. Alfie's first experience with a ski bike was on a home-built version a mountain biker friend had made. After a few laps at the local snow field Alfie knew he had to build his own. After lots of tinkering, time and effort, plus a few skinned knuckles, he built his first ski bike. Based on the way his initial home-built ski bike rode and the response he got from skiers and boarders Alfie decided to take to see if this could be a business opportunity. After many trips abroad visiting different production facilities, he entered into an agreement with a manufacturer to build a new prototype. Through 2015 Alfie worked with the manufacturer to develop the original SB100 SkiByk and spent the winter of 2015-16 riding and testing the new machine. A fortuitous Facebook post connected Chris and Alfie in 2016. After riding the original SkiByk at Sierra-At-Tahoe, Chris and Alfie started a company and SkiByk, LLC was formed. Chris’ understanding of turn dynamics and his focus on building a SkiByk from the snow up combined with Alfie's knowledge of frame geometry and his design capabilities culminated in the SB100 All-Mountain SkiByk - the ski-bike for the masses. Lightweight yet durable, nimble yet solid underfoot, rippy yet carves like a Ginsu knife, it's the perfect ride. "Ride without limits", SkiByk |

We are working closely with SkiByk USA, to bring Kiwi snow hounds the next evolution of the sport, with a unique and exhilarating experience - SkiByk.
